Our veterinarians are all fully licensed and accredited in the State of Illinois.
All our veterinarians attend Continuing Education seminars throughout the year to keep up-to-date on new diseases and syndromes, as well as new treatments for "old" diseases. This keeps their minds sharp, and optimizes the care for our sick patients.
In addition, with five fully-qualified "general practitioner" veterinarians on staff, there is always the opportunity for an immediate second, third, fourth, and even fifth opinion on every case.

Dr. Anthony Brizgys
Dr. Brizgys graduated from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 1974, and has been practicing at McKillip Animal Hospital his entire career. He has four children, and enjoys golfing and bowling with them. He is an active member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association, and the Chicago Veterinary Medical Association.
Dr. Allen Glater
Dr. Glater graduated from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 1981, and has been at McKillip Animal Hospital since May 1982. His professional interests include seeing ferrets, rabbits, and other small mammals, as well as dogs and cats. He has four dogs and two cats, which constitute a full-time hobby. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association, and the Chicago Veterinary Medical Association, and has served two terms on the Board of Directors of the Chicago Veterinary Medical Association.
Dr. Tamara Gardner
Dr. Gardner graduated from the Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1998, and joined the staff of McKillip Animal Hospital in 2005. She comes to us from Crystal River, Florida. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Chicago Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. Gardner has a particular interest in internal medicine and ultrasound imaging, and in her free time enjoys reading and outdoor activities.
Dr. Megan Bender
Dr. Bender graduated from the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine in May 2007 and joined the staff at McKillip Animal Hospital in June. She is originally from Janesville, Wisconsin and is excited to a new resident of Chicago. Dr. Bender is a member of the American Veterinary Association and the Chicago Veterinary Medical Association. She is an avid baseball fan, and in her free time enjoys sporting events, concerts, and playing with Macy, her mixed breed pup. She is excited to join the McKillip team and is looking forward to meeting clients and your pets!
Dr. Rachel Stutzman
Dr. Stutzman is a 2004 Kansas State University graduate who joined McKillip Animal Hospital in August of 2007. She is a Kansas native who is new to the Chicago area. After veterinary school she did an internship in Redding, California. Her main areas of focus during her post-graduate training were surgery, internal medicine and emergency/critical care. She went into general practice with special interests in surgery and ultrasound. She has greyhound named Banker and a cat named Matilda. In her free time she enjoys biking and swimming. She also tries to take advantage of all Chicago has to offer from live music to great restaurants.
